Seat get on their bike

What better way could car makers Seat find to promote their latest vehicle than sending me a picture of … a seat?

In fact, that’s all the info Seat are giving away for now, but you can clearly see that their newest production is not a car, but a scooter.

To be exact, it’s the eScooter, an all electric bike that makes its debut at the Barcelona Smart City Expo World Congress on November 19.

The name of the scooter is hardly imaginative, and nor is the name of the Congress, which seems to be twice as long as it needs to be.

Now here’s another mouthful. Seat, or to give them their full name SEAT (Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo), phew, have called the eScooter a “concept”.

Hmm? That seems a bit odd, as they add: “Seat will sell its own electric motorcycle, equivalent to a 125cc model.”

So it’s not a concept, especially as they say: “It will be available to both private customers and sharing services.”

Seat say: “The eScooter concept (no it’s not) forms part of the company’s urban mobility strategy, which focuses on offering sustainable solutions for cities.

“This strategy also includes the Seat Minimó concept car as well as the Seat eXS Kickscooter powered by Segway which was presented at the 2018 Smart City Expo.”

Oh well, with all those concepts that are actually the real thing here’s something sensible from Seat President Luca de Meo: “The constant growth of large cities makes achieving efficient mobility one of the main challenges to overcome.

“We are taking a further step in our urban micromobility strategy by confirming the launch of the first eScooter in the history of the brand.”

Seat have developed the eScooter with Barcelona-based electric motorcycle maker Silence.

And that’s because Seat is: “In the process of becoming a mobility services provider that goes beyond manufacturing vehicles in an effort to respond to one of the major mobility trends of the future: a collaborative, shared, sustainable economy.”

And you thought it was all about profits.
