Ford call this new entry level Ford Fiesta Trend “eye-catching.”
That’s an understatement. With a photo like this it’s simply spectacular.
The Trend, which comes with 16-inch alloys, privacy glass and metallic paint as standard over the out-going Zetec, is forecast to account for one in every four of the 100,000 Fiestas sold in the UK each year.
For £120 a month, or £15,995 on the road (that’s the asking price) owners will get an eight-inch infotainment touch-screen, DAB radio with Bluetooth, Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
Available as a three or five-door, it features silver and black machine cut alloys, a choice of six metallic body colours plus a smart mesh design front grille with chrome surround and halogen projector headlamps with daytime running lights.
There’s also a lane keeping aid for people who don’t know what side of the road they should be on, speed limiter, auto headlights and MyKey, which allows top speed, maximum audio volume and other settings to be limited.
Air-con and electric front windows are also standard, while sat-nav is a £550 extra.
Power comes from a 1.1-litre, three cylinder engine which gives it a top speed of 106mph and 0-62mph in 14.2s.
The Trend also averages a brilliant 55mpg, giving it a range of 510 miles on one fill-up, and with CO2 emissions of 114g/km it’ll cost £140 a year to tax (£170 first year). Sounds irresistible.
On sale from August 1 with a £5,000 deposit and 9,000 a year annual mileage, monthly payments on Ford Options are from £120 over four years.
Ford of Britain managing director Andy Barratt said: “Our new Fiesta Trend has stand-out appeal thanks to looks and equipment.
“It has been designed with our value Fiesta shopper in mind and represents the package of styling and ease of use they require.”
And that’s why Ford will sell as many as they can make.
