Hub of the action

Got a Volkswagen? Then you’ll want one of these.

It’s a centre cap that stays level at all times and it fits most VW alloys, young and old.

VW must have stolen the centre cap name from Audi, because its got Audi’s favourite word in it.

Called “Dynamic Volkswagen Hub Caps” they’re easy to pop in and out when the wheel needs to be removed or replaced.

The self-levelling function of the centre caps mean the Volkswagen badge stands freely within the wheel, the correct way up, no matter the speed of the car or the position of the wheel.

A set of four costs £156.00, fitted, for a full set of four caps, and are compatible with vehicles whose alloy wheels are able to accept the standard-fit 5G0601171XQI hub caps.

A the moment they’re not available on line, so you’ll have to order a set from your local retailer.

Forget buying them if you’ve got a Polo, Lupo, T-Cross, Touareg, VW Up or, finally, a spectacularly luxurious Phateon, which is ironic, because the hub caps don’t fit any of them.

VW’s Accessories and Merchandise Product Manager James Woolfe said: “If you’re after a touch of that super-expensive segment on your Volkswagen, or if you just want to quell the niggling irritation of badges pointing in different directions to one another, being upside-down or not being perfectly horizontal when parked, then these are definitely for you.

“We’ve not quite reinvented the wheel here, but we know this new item will get certain customers in a spin.” Uurgh.
